Leah Barrows’ love for the gothic has inspired her cooking, her Girl Pictureart and her music. This multi media artist who was inspired and encouraged by her mother at a very early age to express her talent in whatever form it took, including the mixing of watercolor with crayons that resulted in a unique 3D effect. Her further experimentations at a young age were collecting bits of glass found on the street and gluing them to wood in various shapes. Another valuable lesson from her mother was the beauty of mixing differentmediums textures and papers along with the broken glass.

In her teens Barrows met Robert Tynes, a former vogue photographer, and founder of the L’Image Media Project. His work and insite inspired her appreciation and use of photography in her in art. At 14 Barrows was the youngest film producer in Massachusetts and was recognized by the Massachusetts film bureau for her accomplishments. If creating artworks and producing shorts weren’t enough she also dabbles in fashion, and has worked backstage for acclaimed fashion designers Tunji Dada and Nong Tumpsutipong.About 10 years ago, her interest in gothic gave her the opportunity to join the gothic rock band Tung as the lead singer (check out their website: myspace.com/tung). The band by the way was listed at number 3 in WMFO FM’s list of top ten bands.

In 2002 Barrows acquired a disk of over 30,000 royalty free images of Victorian and Modern erotica, which renewed her intense love of collage. Which for her is combining the alchemy of gemstones and pearls with gold copper and silver, as she seeks to venerate the images of woman and men. And define Sensuality in a playful and sacred way.She further explains. “Pearls bring harmony to the home and the use of metals adds a life force to the painting. I like to approach digital art as and extension of the artist pallet. Often I paint directly on a finished giclee, when one does this the paint often dries upon execution allowing for no marginality of error, I love the exactness this requires. “

If art, film and music weren't enough Leah PictureBarrows put her love of the alchemy and food to the test, and On April 1st 2009, her first book featuring her artwork and recipes was published! It’s called, ‘THE VAMPYRE COOKBOOK”. She describes it this way.“I know there is a vampire cookbook…It is a ghoulish recipe book for humans…whereas my cookbook is an alchemical book exclusively for vampires…” in the order of True Blood and Twilight to name a few!“Alchemy is a way of life. One should incorporate the beauty this earth offers us. Have it as an integrated part of the home.”
